What is so special about December and the Nobel Prizes?

  • In 1901 the first Nobel Prizes were awarded
  • In 1903 Marie Curie was jointly awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics
  • In 1953 Winston Churchill was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature
  • And December is also the month of Alfred Nobel’s passing in 1896

We all associate peace with the Nobel prize, but did you know that Alfred Nobel actually invented dynamite?  He was also a great chemist, engineer, innovator and a manufacturer of armaments.

So how did the Nobel Peace Prize come about?
