‘H’ – Who Am I? Our last challenge!

…..but FIRST, let us reveal Thursday’s ‘Who Am I’ ….

Thursday’s Amazing Person was, Nurse, EDITH CAVELL! Nurse Edith Cavell, helped Allied Soldiers escape from Germany-occupied Belgium during the First World War.  She lived by a personal motto: “I can’t stop while there are lives to be saved.”  Follow Edith, as she helped others through her nursing and as a member of a resistance group during the war.

Her amazing quest to fight for what she believed in is a story of great courage and selflessness. This is a story of determination and Edith deserves to be remembered. Find out what happened to Edith and find out how far this woman was prepared to go for her beliefs.

  • My surname begins with the letter ‘H’
  • I was born in 1887 in North Carolina
  • I was only 25 when I obtained my first U.S. patent
  • Moved to New York and established an umbrella company
  • I was featured in Scientific American Magazine
  • I invented many other household items including soap filled sponges
  • In my lifetime, I was awarded 49 patents and credited with 110 inventions!
