VOLTAIRE – Born November 21, 1694

Can you imagine the repercussions way back in the 1700’s if you spoke out of turn? How many people in those early days would contemplate voicing their opinions boldly and with conviction? Voltaire did! He was very outspoken and often put himself at risk with both the Church and Government of the times. In fact, he was imprisoned on more than one occasion.

Travel in the footsteps of Voltaire, the prolific French writer, whose critical view on religion and the government, often landed him in hot water. Voltaire produced works in almost every literary form, from poetry and plays, to novels and historical pieces. He wrote over 20,000 letters!

Discover the twists and turns that led him to become one of France’s best known and most opinionated writers.
