Australia and the town of Seventeen Seventy

Posted on Updated on

Recently, I went on a short caravan trip in Queensland, Australia. Even on this short holiday, I saw things that reminded me of the amazing people and places that our author, Dr. Charles Margerison has written about. As I discovered, these wonderful and inspiring stories stay with you.

Camping at Seventeen Seventy (1770), our walk to took us up high around the perimeter of the cliffs overlooking the ocean. This is the sight of the second landing of Captain James Cook in May 1770. This site was originally known as ‘Round Hill.’ The community of Seventeen Seventy hold the re-enactment of this historic landing in May each year as part of the annual 1770 Festival.
